The horse you'll ride will be Colombian Criollo, strong and good riding horses. With this reliable horse, you will venture and pass through scenic places, from Juaitoque natural reserve to astrological observatory called Patio de Brujas in the desert. Imagine a journey through time!
Accommodations will be primary in old haciendas. These haciendas are mainly ranching places. You will stay in multiple accommodations with rooms for two, three, or four people. Couples are accommodated separately.
First-day route and journey passes through Juaitoque natural reserve at a 3,200 meters height above sea level. You will pass through Andino Moorlands and traditional horseshoe roads. In the afternoon, you will descend through “el camino de la punta de la peña” with a view at the Palacio lagoon. Your journey for the day finishes at La Hacienda La Cabaña, traditional horse breeding and ranching farm.
Your second day of the journey begins through narrow and horseshoe roads till you reach Sutatausa where you will visit a learning center, a sacred place formed by four chapels and a national monument. You will continue to the rocky mountains of the Hato Dam where you will have a local traditional lunch. In the afternoon, you will arrive again at La Hacienda La Cabaña.
You will travel through the Ubaté plains. Green plains and meadows will lead you the way. You will stop for lunch at a colonial hacienda Punta de Vega. In the afternoon, you will continue your journey until you reach La Hacienda Potosí specialized in ranching, farming, and Percherones and Belgas breeding, where you will spend the night.
You will start your journey from La Hacienda Potosí passing through the Fúquene lagoon and the San Miguel roads. Lunch will be served at the colonial hacienda Ticha, a place where history pours from the walls. Your afternoon travel is through an impressive woods of oak trees. You will change states from Cundinamarca to Boyacá, until you reach a semi-desert plains of Raquira, where you will spend the night in local cabins. Your night will be brightened by local folk musicians.
Leaving from semi-desert plains, you will have the chance to visit the traditional town of Raquira, where homemade crafts and mud made ornaments are its main attraction. You will have time to walk, have lunch, and relax through the exotic rock made roads. In the afternoon, you will begin riding until you reach the Candelaria Monastery, a sacred place founded in 1,604 and is owned today by the Agustinos father’s community.
On this day, you will change sceneries drastically. Just one hour away from the monastery, you will enter the inhospitable desert of the “Candelaria”. Rocky roads and strong winds will guide the way. In the desert, you will visit an astrological observatory in the middle of nowhere called Patio de Brujas, a magic place filled with legends of women from the past. In the afternoon, you will reach the majestic town of Villa de Leyva, founded in 1572 and known as a national monument. It is a place known to keep its traditional architecture between moorlands and deserts. At night, you will say goodbye to your journey in a breathtaking environment.
Breakfast and checkout from the hotel in Villa de Leyva and travel to Bogotá. A trip that lasts approximately three hours. Getting ready for other plans or returning to different countries.
Horses used on your journey are Colombian Criollo working horses. They are strong and good riding horses. They are comfortable walking horses that respect and obey the rider.
The riding saddle is comfortable with a clean and basic design. Riding saddles are native. Each saddle brings saddlebags and raincoats.
