Rancho San Jose Del Carizzo wants to make your experience at the ranch unforgettable. You will see what life in a real working ranch in Mexico is like. You will stay in an authentic hacienda with all the comforts to make your trip very pleasurable. Rancho San Jose Del Carizzo has nine rooms situated around the indoor courtyard of the hacienda. Each room has two queen beds and colorful bathrooms with Talavera tile. The kitchen produces some of the best Mexican cowboy meals in the region.

Horseback riding

Horseback riding provides a great way to see the scenery and visit an old gold mining town, now abandoned, that is located on the ranch. You can experience short rides for beginner riders, or have a day-long ride, going out with the ranch cowboys and experiencing some of the ranch-related activities.

Location

This horse riding and ranch vacation take place in Cananea, Sonora, México. It is located two miles from the town of Bacoachi along the Sonora River. This is 75 miles from the U.S. port of entry of Naco Az. And 95 miles from Douglas Az. The ranch is located at the base of Buenos Aires Mountain, considered an ecological island along with its two neighboring mountains, Los Ajos and La Purica.

Cananea

The entrance to the valley is in Cananea where the river is born. Here in Cananea is also where the San Pedro River is born and flows north into the U.S. Cananea boast the third largest copper mine in the world and one of the largest astronomical observatories in Latin America. If this wasn't enough, Cananea is considered the birthplace of the Mexican Revolution, it all started here on June 1, 1906.

There are plenty of trails for an easy walk to more vigorous hikes. If your interest is bicycles, ride some of the trails that go from a simple ride with extraordinary views to more adventures downhill rides.

The Sonora River being a natural corridor for bird migration makes the ranch a perfect place to observe many varieties of birds like the vermilion flycatcher, trogon, and different varieties of hummingbirds. Bring your binoculars and a camera and enjoy the birds and the spectacular scenery.

Learn

Learn how to make corn or flour tortillas the old fashion way. If you want to have some real coffee, Rancho San Jose Del Carizzo can teach you to roast and grind your own coffee on a wood burning stove.

Panning for gold

Maybe you want to strike it rich, try your hand at panning for gold. Prospectors have been finding gold here for over two hundred years.

Relaxed day

If you want to have a more relaxed day, bury your nose in a book in the Hacienda courtyard or play many of the game available, like chess, dominoes, backgammon, ping pong, horseshoes, and cards.

Please book your flight to arrive at General Ignacio P. Garcia International Airport (HMO) or Tucson International Airport (TUS). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. Rancho San Jose Del Carizzo can pick you up if there are four people minimum who join this roundtrip transfers. The roundtrip transfers cost 70 USD per person. International crossing Hermosillo-Ranch 253 kilometers or 157 miles and Tucson-Ranch 190 kilometers or 118 miles. Traveling time from Hermosillo is four hours each way while from Tucson is three and a half hours each way.
