A sanctuary for the soul; ideal for romance, relaxation, and rejuvenation, this ranch is the ultimate destination for a luxurious escape. With natural architecture embracing the Uruguayan beautiful countryside, the private cabins blend rustic elegance, comfort, and privacy. Haras Las Tordillas is a 30-acre horse farm property. The main residence has a large communal dining/living room and wide veranda, which overlook the horses grazing in the field, the pool, and garden with native plants and trees.

Haras Las Tordillas Lodge has four separate studio-style cabins for single and double/twin occupancy. All rooms have their own bathroom with a shower and toilet. During the center-based riding programs, guests will stay at Las Tordillas, riding out every day to different locations and returning to Las Tordillas in the afternoon.

You will be accommodated in one of the four cabins that offer approximately 35 square meters or 115 square feet of space. Each room has either a king-size bed or two single beds appointed with fine cotton linen and quilted duvets. All have well-equipped bathrooms and hardwoods. All rooms come with a balcony and all have open views overlooking the Uruguayan typical countryside. Also included at the cabins are air-conditioning and heating, hairdryer, Wi-Fi, and a minibar.

The ranch also offers one extra-large cabin with 65 square meters or 213 square feet of space. This cabin has one bedroom with a king-size bed, private bathroom, one bar or kitchen, one living room, a dining room with a fireplace, cable TV, and a huge terrace with a magnificent view.

You'll be strategically located within walking distance of the best restaurants, art galleries, theaters, typical coffee shops, and museums of Montevideo.

Day 2: April 21, 2021

After breakfast at the hotel, you'll be transferred to the ranch, approximately a two-hour drive (130 kilometers). On arrival at the ranch, you'll be shown to your room, a private cabin with all amenities, and then you will be able to meet the horses.

After an extensive home-cooked lunch out on the terrace if the weather permits, you'll get acquainted with your horse for the week on a one-hour ride around the local area. In the evening dinner, you will be served at the ranch along with wine from local vineyards.

Day 3: April 22, 2021

Breakfast will be served between 08:30 to 9 a.m. You'll then set out on today's ride, which takes you through pine forests. You'll cross streams on horseback and be able to admire the magnificent views that surround the ranch. Lunch will be a picnic in the open countryside at a handpicked spot. The ride takes about 4-5 hours. Dinner and lodging back at the ranch.

Lote 8 is located in Eden Valley, a spot of rugged beauty, strategically located at the foot of Dos Hermanos hill, northwest of Punta del Este. Riding Ability

Trail riding holidays with Haras Las Tordillas are for experienced (good intermediate to advanced) riders only. For the minimum riding ability required (intermediate), you are expected to have a firm and balanced seat, had formal riding lessons to master the basic horse riding aids and skills, be confident and capable to control a fit and forward going horse in all paces (including long stretches of posting trot and gallops) in open, varied, sometimes challenging, country, and to be able to mount and dismount unassisted.

It is a great advantage if you are a fit and proficient rider. Beginner and novice riders and children are not suitable for Tordillas' rides. For safety reasons, they reserve the right to prevent a client from riding if they feel they do not fulfill any of the above competence levels.

Riding Terrain

Rides go into remote and isolated areas with limited mobile phone reception and assistance from third parties not immediately available.

Haras las Tordillas has eight thoroughbred Arabians; their ages vary between six and 10 years; they live outside in the herd year-round and are occasionally stabled during bad weather. The horses are schooled and well trained for long distance trail riding, forward going, spirited, responsive, and in excellent condition.

Some of the horses are suitable for intermediate riders and some are only for advanced riders. Every effort is made to match the horse and the rider.

The tack is of a very high standard and kept in good condition. All saddles are American Western leather style and there is a small saddle bag to carry a water bottle (supplied), personal items for the day, and lunch, on some days.

Length and Pace of the Rides

Except for the first day (2 to 3hours), all rides are 4 to 5 hours. This is broken up by lunch (minimum of one hour) and, sometimes, an extra refreshment stop. Horses are unsaddled for lunch. After each stop, riders lead the horses for a few minutes to loosen the horses' (and the riders') muscles before mounting. Ride pace is varied and moderate and allows fast canters and galloping. From a riding level perspective, all riding tours are similar.

Weight Limit

Maximum weight is 85 kilos. Advanced riders of up to 90 kilos will be considered depending on their height. For the horses' sake, it is important that you give Las Tordillas your accurate weight (even if you are not close to the weight limit) because of the size and light frame of the Arabian horses, the pace of the rides, the hot weather in the summer, and the partly steep terrain. They plan the groups carefully according to the rider abilities and weight so that it will be suitable for the horses and more enjoyable for you.

Guests can offer to help with the horses and get their horse ready in the morning, saddle and unsaddle, and wash and clean up the horse and tack, if they want (always supervised); but this is by no means compulsory or expected.

The guide carries a special mobile phone for regional areas (but not with 100% reception). Riding helmets must be worn at all times while riding.

Non-riders are accepted but it is recommended for them to have a rental car to explore the area. The non-riders can sometimes travel with the support vehicle to the lunch spot and can also be transported to other accommodations if required (during treks).

Haras Las Tordillas is located in the department of Maldonado, at a distance of 60 kilometers from Punta Del Este and 16 kilometers from Pueblo Éden.

Pueblo Eden

Pueblo Eden is a small town, with a population of just a few hundred, set in a rural area of hills, valleys, and granite outcroppings. It is located 40 kilometers north of Punta del Este on Ruta 12. Pueblo Eden’s town center has a large lawn plaza with benches and palm trees, bordered by a small chapel, a public school, and small homes. A hidden paradise between the hills surrounding this area is an authentic "slow town" located at only 16 kilometers from Haras Las Tordillas.

Punta del Este

Known as the Saint Tropez of South America because of its beautiful beaches, plus the sophisticated tourist infrastructure and the outlandish discotheques, casinos, and world-class restaurants. It was considered the most luxurious summer resort in South America by Forbes magazine.

Lote 8

Lote 8 is located in Eden Valley, a spot of rugged beauty, strategically located at the foot of Dos Hermanos Hill, northwest of Punta del Este, past La Barra and José Ignacio. Its numerous natural streams with very good water further contribute an advantage to grow olive trees on the slopes, which has allowed adding up an excellent product to the beauty of the rolling land.

The estate has enough water, a key element in plant development, to ensure a growing speed similar to that of the Mediterranean basin, the main area of olive production in the world. Its climate is very much like the Mediterranean, with mild winters, rainy falls and springs, and dry and warm summers.

Their extra virgin olive oils are produced from their own olives, harvested by hand. They undergo a cold extraction system with Pieralisi technology. Upon extraction, they are stored in stainless steel tanks under controlled atmosphere. All of the oils have an acidity lower than 0.2 %.

Restaurant and Winery

The restaurant is open every day from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The restaurant offers exquisite lunches and dinners with a menu that changes daily. Guests can relax by the pool and take in the splendid views or explore what nature has to offer and/or participate in any of the rides on perfectly trained Thoroughbred Arabian horses.

The winery was designed in three levels, aiming at using the force of gravity to contribute to the movements of grapes and wine in the different production stages. The process starts at the highest level where grapes are received and processed and finishes with wine maturing and aging in the cellar, nestled in the hill´s stone, which offers ideal light, temperature, and moisture conditions.
