Check-out Time:

You will be provided all-inclusive pack trips into the rugged and beautiful mountains of Montana and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Once your trip starts, you will be provided all food, camping gear, stock, tack, and other gear necessary for the trip. All you need is your own personal gear and belongings.

On your trip, you will most certainly cross mountain passes, ford rivers, and cover a wide range of terrain from rolling meadows to heavy timber to wide open high alpine basins. The riding will stick to well-maintained trails. These trails often have bridges over the bogs and strategic deep river crossings.

You will occasionally have to go around, over, or through downfall caused by the wind from a summer rainstorm. However, mostly the trails are in good shape. If you haven't ridden much, you will be a little saddle sore. However, you will stop about every two hours to give everyone a chance to stretch their legs and relax the riding muscles.

The rides are often 12 to 16 miles between camps and the day rides are 4 to 6 miles. You will enjoy the beautiful spots on camp and rest up a bit for the next travel day. Your longest rides can be 18 miles, which tend to be on the trips where traveling is a focus. Even then, it is usually only one day like that on any given trip.

Explore Montana's Bob Marshall Wilderness

A Montana Horse pack trip is one of the most unique experiences in the west. Your journey to Montana's famed Bob Marshall Wilderness will take you into a country that is simply magnificent, but also quite inaccessible and can only get around by riding trail horses or hiking.

It is as remote as it is beautiful and many hidden adventures await you along the trail and at the evening's campsite. The Bob Marshall is a huge wilderness - larger than several eastern states in fact - and there is a wide variety of wild country and rivers to explore.

From the vast meadows of the Sun River to the rugged canyons of the Flathead River, to the rugged cliffs of the Chinese Wall on the Continental Divide, there is wonder bringing alive the senses that lets you fully enjoy the natural wonder surrounding you and the separation from civilization.

Enjoy an excellent menu of western fare during this holiday. The kitchen will be supplied with quite a bit of frozen fresh meat, fish, and fresh vegetables as well. Your meals include all manner of beef, chicken, pork, and fish.

The breakfasts are hardy and include things like bacon, sausages, eggs, fresh fruits, and the ever-popular pancakes and french toast. Lunches are generally on the trail or in the field, so they are light and portable but fun and varied. Things like sandwiches, cheeses and crackers, wraps, fruits, and other goodies that keep you going during the day.

Happy hour before dinner is often a universal social event on any excursion. You may bring your own preferred wine, beer, or other alcoholic beverages. Please kindly bring aluminum cans for beer, and plastic bottles (or transfer to plastic bottles) any alcohol. To prevent damage during packing, kindly wrap them in towels or other clothing.

Other dietary requirements such as gluten-free and vegetarian diets can be accommodated. Kindly advise A Lazy H Outfitters in advance so they will pack the food accordingly. It's a long way to the grocery store from where you will be!
