The 9 Finger Ranch is a member of Hostelling International - Canada. All 9 Finger Ranch's accommodations meet the quality standards established by Hostelling International - Canada for the comfort and safety of their guests.

The ranch is close to Riding Mountain National Park and is run as natural as possible - perfect for small or large groups. Their two cabins on the property can each sleep 10 people comfortably. Their cabins are located on the ranch close to the main house.

9 Finger Ranch offers two dorm rooms with four bunk beds in each. Each gender specific room has eight beds available. Also available in the cabin are a shower room, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a common room. Bedding is supplied.


Let 9 Finger Ranch spoil you

After checking in, you will settle in the dorm on the ranch property and have supper inside or outside. You will enjoy the quietness of the country in the evening followed by a restful night. You may join 9 Finger Ranch's family as much or as little as you like during your stay and let’s not forget about the horses.

Horseback riding

The next day, you will get to meet your horse for the length of your stay. 9 Finger Ranch will show you how to take care of it and give you a quick lesson on how to ride before taking you out on your very first ride: a one-hour ride at the ranch.

After this introduction ride, 9 Finger Ranch sits down with you and your group and makes a tentative schedule for the next few days. You get to pick another five rides of various lengths depending on your interest and experience.

Check out the various rides that 9 Finger Ranch offers so you can get a taste before you are even here. To make your stay the best, they need a consensus to which rides will be done as a group. They will do their best to respect everyone’s wishes.

Last day

On your last day, a special BBQ will be held in the park (weather permitting) to finish off the week on a great note. Reminisce about your week, all the things you learned and saw, and maybe plan your next holiday with 9 Finger Ranch.

Note: Check-in is at 17:00 on Saturday and check-out is at 12:00 on Friday.

A member of Hostelling International, the 9 Finger Ranch is situated amidst rolling hills and lakes, offering a stunning view up to the Riding Mountain National Park, Canada. The most western entrance is only a 15 minutes’ drive away.

The hostel is situated halfway between Winnipeg and Regina. It is 320 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg, 300 kilometers east of Regina, and 150 kilometers north of Brandon. 9 Finger Ranch is 12 kilometers northeast of Rossburn. 9 Finger Ranch is close to fly-fishing lakes, the Trans Canada Trail, lots of historic sites, and a renowned nine-hole golf course, just to name a few.

Things to do (optional)

When not riding, you get to decide what you would like to do: stay on the ranch or not. Let 9 Finger Ranch know beforehand what your interests are and they will try to accommodate you. When special events are announced, they will share them with you.

If you do not have your own vehicle and 9 Finger Ranch arranged your pick up, one day of touring in their area is included in the transportation fee. The entrance fee to the Riding Mountain National Park is included when riding with 9 Finger Ranch. You are more than welcome to go back to the park on your own but please note that you will need to pay separate entrance fees.

Things to do (Optional)

  • Renting aquatic equipment and spend a day at the nearby Rossman Lake
  • Visit Ukrainian Heritage sites and/or the National Historic site of the Inglis Elevators

Recommended Airports

Driving direction from the east via Highway 16

  • Follow from Winnipeg the Trans Canada Highway (Highway 1) West until after Portage La Prairie and turn onto Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway).
  • Turn onto Highway 45 in Russell, follow it until town entrance to Rossburn.
  • Turn left (north) onto Highway 264N and stay on it for 3.2 kilometers (2 miles).
  • Turn right (east) onto pr 577 and stay on it for 6.4 kilometers (4 miles).
  • Turn left (north) onto Road 141 W for 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles).
  • 9 Finger Ranch is on the right-hand side.

Driving direction from the east via Highway 16

  • Turn onto Highway 21 north in Shoal Lake which brings you to Oakburn.
  • Turn west onto Highway 45 bringing you to Rossburn.
  • Turn right (north) onto 264N and stay on it for 3.2 kilometers (2 miles).
  • Turn right (east) onto pr 577 and stay on it for 6.4 kilometers (4 miles).
  • Turn left (north) onto Road 141 W for 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles).
  • 9 Finger Ranch is on the right-hand side.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
