Due to the CoVid-19 situation, only the cabins will be available for rental. Therefore, 9 Finger Ranch will not offer rent by bed or by room options. Depending on how the situation evolves, changes might be announced in the future.

The 9 Finger Ranch is a member of Hostelling International - Canada. All accommodations meet the quality standards established by HI-Canada for the comfort and safety of guests. The ranch is close to Riding Mountain National Park and is run as natural as possible. Perfect for small or large groups! The two cabins on the property can each sleep 10 people comfortably. The cabins are located on the ranch close to the main house.

Both cabins have one private room (one bunk bed) and one dorm (four bunk beds). They also have a shower room, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a common room. Bedding is supplied.

Enjoy the peaceful country life. After checking in, settle in your cabin on the property and enjoy the quietness of the country in the evening followed by a restful night.

Your cabin will be exclusively for you and your companions. Each cabin (for up to 10 people) has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom facilities, 2 bedrooms with bunk beds, a living room, and a deck to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets and the peaceful view over our fields.

No meals are included in this option. Rossburn has a grocery store where you can stock up and there are some restaurants (also for take away) around.

Horseback riding

The next day, you will get to meet your horse for the length of your stay. The 9 Finger Ranch team will show you how to take care of it and give you a quick “how to ride lesson” before taking you out on your very first ride: a one hour ride at the ranch.

You get to pick another five rides of various lengths depending on your interest and experience. Check out the various rides 9 Finger Ranch offers so you can get a taste before you are even here. All your rides will be exclusively for you and your companions and not mixed with other groups.


When not riding, you get to decide what you would like to do: stay on the ranch or not. Let 9 Finger Ranch know beforehand what your interests are and they will try to accommodate you. When special events are announced, 9 Finger Ranch will share them with you.

The entrance fee to the Riding Mountain National Park is included when riding with 9 Finger Ranch. You are more than welcome to go back to the Park on your own but please note that you will need to pay separate entrance fees.


Accompanying a rider and want to enjoy nature, the ranch life, the tranquility but without the riding? No problem, 9 Finger Ranch offers companions to stay for 270 CAD (in total 302,40 CAD with tax). Please note that for adding a non-rider, a minimum of two riders is required.


Regarding the Covid-19 situation: 9 Finger Ranch wants guests to feel safe at the ranch while staying! The cabins are secluded and you do not need to share facilities with other guests. Further, the 9 Finger Ranch team does their best to minimize direct and close contact with guests as far as possible.

The cabins are properly cleaned after every guest and be blocked for two days before the next group can arrive. Please note that there will be no cleaning during your stay but a regular garbage pick-up will be done at a designated spot outside.

When going for rides, your group will not be mixed with other people – it will only be you, your companions. and the guide. Further, 9 Finger Ranch is trying to minimize close contact as much as possible.

Despite the circumstances, 9 Finger Ranch is happy to welcome guests at the ranch again – together they will all try to make the best out of the situation and make your stay unforgettable.

A member of Hostelling International, the 9 Finger Ranch is situated amidst rolling hills and lakes, offering a stunning view up to the Riding Mountain National Park, Canada. The most western entrance is only a 15 minutes’ drive away.

The hostel is situated halfway between Winnipeg and Regina. It is 320 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg, 300 kilometers east of Regina, and 150 kilometers north of Brandon. 9 Finger Ranch is 12 kilometers northeast of Rossburn. 9 Finger Ranch is close to fly-fishing lakes, the Trans Canada Trail, lots of historic sites, and a renowned nine-hole golf course, just to name a few.

Driving direction from the east via Highway 16

  • Follow from Winnipeg the Trans Canada Highway (Highway 1) West until after Portage La Prairie and turn onto Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway).
  • Turn onto Highway 45 in Russell, follow it until town entrance to Rossburn.
  • Turn left (north) onto Highway 264N and stay on it for 3.2 kilometers (2 miles).
  • Turn right (east) onto pr 577 and stay on it for 6.4 kilometers (4 miles).
  • Turn left (north) onto Road 141 W for 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles).
  • 9 Finger Ranch is on the right-hand side.

  • Turn onto Highway 21 north in Shoal Lake which brings you to Oakburn.
  • Turn west onto Highway 45 bringing you to Rossburn.
  • Turn right (north) onto 264N and stay on it for 3.2 kilometers (2 miles).

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 14% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.

Pricing information

A minimum of two riders is required for booking. If there are more than 3 riders in a group, 9 Finger Ranch will give you 10% off and deduct from the total price before taxes. Further, with 3 riders booked, additional non-riding companions are free (Economy Week package).
