Live life to its fullest on the 9 Finger Ranch! You will spend five days and four nights discovering the ranch and its surroundings. Included in the pampering are home-cooked meals, an unlimited supply of coffee and various teas, and of course, the horses. A minimum of two riders is required and if there are more than three riders in a group, you will be given a discount!
Due to the CoVid-19 situation, only the cabins will be available for rental. Therefore, 9 Finger Ranch will not offer rent by bed or by room options. Depending on how the situation evolves, changes might be announced in the future.
The 9 Finger Ranch is a member of Hostelling International - Canada. All accommodations meet the quality standards established by HI-Canada for the comfort and safety of guests. The ranch is close to Riding Mountain National Park and is run as natural as possible. Perfect for small or large groups! The two cabins on the property can each sleep 10 people comfortably. The cabins are located on the ranch close to the main house.
Both cabins have one private room (one bunk bed) and one dorm (four bunk beds). They also have a shower room, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and a common room. Bedding is supplied.
After checking in and settling in your cabin within the Ranch house, you get a nice homemade meal delivered to your doorstep to take that travel weight off your shoulders. Enjoy the quietness of the country in the evening followed by a restful night! Your cabin will be exclusively for you and your companions.
Each cabin (for up to 10 people) has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom facilities, two bedrooms with bunk beds, a living room, and a deck to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets and the peaceful view over the fields. Included in the pampering are home-cooked meals, an unlimited supply of coffee and various teas, and of course, the horses.
The next day, you will get to meet your horse for the length of your stay. 9 Finger Ranch will show you how to take care of it and give you a quick “how to ride lesson” before taking you out on your very first ride: a one hour ride at the ranch.
Day 2 is a two-hour ride on the ranch to check up on the cows. Day 3 and 4 are longer rides in the national park. Check out the various rides 9 Finger Ranch offers so you can get a taste before you are even there. All your rides will be exclusively for you and your companions and not mixed with other groups.
9 Finger Ranch wants guests to feel safe at the ranch while staying! The cabins are secluded and you do not need to share facilities with other guests. Further, they do their best to minimize direct and close contact with guests as far as possible. The cabins are properly cleaned after every guest and be blocked for two days before the next group can arrive.
Please note that there will be no cleaning during your stay but a regular garbage pick-up will be done at a designated spot outside. When going for rides, your group will not be mixed with other people, it will only be you, your companions, and the guide. Further, the ranch is trying to minimize close contact as much as possible.
Despite the circumstances, 9 Finger Ranch is happy to welcome you at the ranch again, together, you will all try to make the best out of the situation and make your vacations unforgettable!
Val, Ray’s wife, comes from Quebec and spent the summer of 2013 with 9 Finger Ranch to learn English and further her knowledge of horses. Fast forward four years and she’s not only fallen in love with Manitoba but also with Ray. She has her Western Riding Level 4 and will help you learn all you need to know about horseback riding. Val is an animal lover and keeps some goats on their property. She is currently working on becoming a Certified Licensed Guide and taking courses to eventually help Ilse with the admin side of the business.
Ray loves his Tennessee walking horses and riding in the park. He has combined that love and is now sharing it with you as a certified licensed guide for the Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba. From rides on the ranch to camping in the park, he will be with you all the way and share his wealth of knowledge of the park with you.

A member of Hostelling International, the 9 Finger Ranch is situated amidst rolling hills and lakes, offering a stunning view up to the Riding Mountain National Park, Canada. The most western entrance is only a 15-minute drive away.
The hostel is situated halfway between Winnipeg and Regina. It is 320 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg, 300 kilometers east of Regina, and 150 kilometers north of Brandon. 9 Finger Ranch is 12 kilometers northeast of Rossburn. 9 Finger Ranch is close to fly-fishing lakes, the Trans Canada Trail, lots of historic sites, and a renowned nine-hole golf course, just to name a few.
Daily homemade meals are included in the package. Adapting to the current situation, breakfast will be self-served in your cabin while lunch and supper will be delivered to your doorstep.
Food is grown in the garden or the pasture as nature intended it and the ranch procures additional items locally. Wholesome home-cooked meals are a promise to you. After a hearty breakfast (of course, you can also have a light version), lunch is kept simple, so that it can be to go as well when going on trail rides. The main meal in the evening does end with a homemade dessert.
When not riding, you get to decide what you would like to do: stay on the ranch or not. Let 9 Finger Ranch know beforehand what your interests are and they will try to accommodate you. When special events are announced, they will share them with you.
The entrance fee to the Riding Mountain National Park is included when riding with 9 Finger Ranch. You are more than welcome to go back to the park on your own but please note that you will need to pay separate entrance fees.
